Touch of the White

First. Shelter. Winter is passing and spring draws near; yet hardship is not over, for the worst has yet to come. Notices of the harshest Sun's Wrath - the coldest time of the year - posted weeks in advance not forgotten; nobles and commoners alike brace themselves for the biting cold and what without fail will follow: the frost beasts.

First. Brave. It is now the first week of Sun's Wrath; the cold has come, harsher than ever. But there is still hope out there for the unprepared, for the weather still permits one last chance at preparation. In fact, this might be the best time for the courageous. In the forest and the plain surrounding the capital, there are reports of large animals like moose and wolves frozen to death, and the Justilia Order was ordered to retrieve them for additional stock for the kingdom. Citizens are allowed and encouraged to lend a hand.

Second. Quiet. A human fisherman and his young child have gone missing four days before the start of Sun's Wrath. The family reported them going to fish, as they did everyday before that but have not returned ever since. The wife spoke of wisps floating under thin ice, of eerie whispers her husband mentioned the days before he went missing, of a clear turquoise shard her son brought back one day. More recently, three reports of strange creatures, one referred to them as "mermaids" were submitted to the Justilia Order. Locals are recommended to take precaution when approaching the lake, and ordered to report any incidents.

Second. Frost. Ten days after the incident of the fisherman and his child, reports of crystallized driftwood flood in the Justilia Order. Driftwood washed ashore was nothing new to the people of Tharsis, but ever since that morning, the beach had been littered with turquoise shards that shaped like branches, and some with what looked like sapphire scales. The Crown urges the people to remain calm; the Justilia Order organized special patrols to the waterfront and the sages of Stuttura Institute are working day and night to understand this strange occurrence.

Third. Blind. One week into the Sun's Wrath and it began. Brotherhood of the Clear, as they'd like to call themselves, laid siege to Tharsis like they did every year since the kingdom of Arden settled on the land. To the Crown and his people, the Brotherhood was not much more than a group of bandits, more commonly known as the Ice Beasts. Not much was known about them, except for that they composed of many races, mostly the elves, and that they claimed to serve the Moon God. Some scholars reasoned this was why they focused their attack Tharsis every year during the week the cold was harshest, as if to demonstrate their devotion to their god. Their aim seemed to be pillaging and sabotaging more than spying and stealing.
